September 2026

Breaking news: the much-anticipated Dynamics 365 10.0.49 update has finally arrived. However, the latest version of Dynamics 365 F&SCM carries more weight than the last few releases, so it’s important to understand what this update includes, what deprecates, and how you can prepare for and manage running a service update. Microsoft flags 10.0.49 as a major release on its published schedule: general availability for self-update began September 11, 2026, and the first production auto-update follows on October 2, 2026. That leaves roughly three weeks between the moment you can deploy on your own terms and the moment Microsoft deploys D365 10.0.49 for you. For most organizations, that window closes faster than the testing calendar allows. Further, there’s also a timing consideration that catches many teams off guard every cycle.

Microsoft’s One Version policy permits pausing only one update at a time. In other words, you have to update your Dynamics 365 environment every other release at least, so if your organization skipped 10.0.48, which were the Dynamics 365 updates in May 2026 and are still running version 10.0.47, which were the Dynamics 365 finance updates in April 2026, then 10.0.49 is mandatory for you. The planning window is not something you get to negotiate. Beyond that, this release includes a developer toolchain change that has nothing to do with Feature Management and everything to do with whether your build pipeline still works six months from now. We will get to that shortly, because it is the item most likely to be missed.

Microsoft’s Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management 10.0.49 release schedule does not pause for fiscal close, peak season, or a competing implementation, which means planning is of the utmost importance. The question has never been whether or not D365 F&SCM 10.0.49 reaches your environment. Instead, the question is whether your team decides when and how, or whether that decision gets made for you on a Friday in October.

This guide walks through everything you need to know about the Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management (F&SCM) 10.0.49 update, available in preview from July 27, 2026, generally available for self-update from September 11, 2026, with production auto-updates beginning October 2, 2026. (Editor’s Note: Dynamics 365 F&SCM was formerly known as Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, commonly abbreviated to F&O. Everything below in our Dynamics 365 F&SCM 10.0.49 release notes applies equally to D365 F&O users, so we will use the terms interchangeably at times.)

Context

The Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management 10.0.49 platform update is a broader release than 10.0.48 in terms of surface area, and the emphasis has shifted. Where 10.0.48 leaned heavily on compliance infrastructure and AI agents, the D365 10.0.49 platform update concentrates on supplier lifecycle management, planning precision, budget control for public sector and budget-constrained organizations, Electronic Reporting capability, and operational telemetry.

The headline items are worth naming up front. Supplier Engagement introduces a preview of a full supplier lifecycle model with a global vendor record, a buyer app, and a supplier-facing portal. Planning Optimization gets two meaningful corrections to how it interprets calendars and coverage time fences. Budget control picks up several improvements aimed squarely at organizations running encumbrance accounting and general budget reservations. Electronic Reporting gains GS1 barcode generation and new formula functions. On the platform side, batch telemetry finally covers job occurrences rather than only the tasks underneath them.

There is also a quieter change in this release that will affect more organizations than any single new feature. Version 10.0.49 of D365 makes a large batch of previously optional features mandatory, with Cash and Bank Management carrying more than twenty of them and Accounts Receivable close behind. If your team ever deliberately left one of those switched off, that decision is being reversed. It will not appear on any new-feature checklist, which is exactly why it is worth checking first.

Then there is the change that is not a feature at all. Starting with PU74, which ships as version 10.0.50, Microsoft no longer supports Visual Studio 2022 for X++ development. Only Visual Studio 2026 is supported. If your organization maintains custom X++, works with an ISV, or runs automated builds, the 10.0.49 cycle is the planning window for that migration. There is no Feature Management toggle involved and no way to defer it by pausing an update.

One scheduling note that matters: if your organization is currently running 10.0.47, Dynamics 365 version 10.0.49 is required. A maximum of one update can be skipped at a time under Microsoft’s One Version policy, so 10.0.48 and 10.0.49 cannot both be deferred.  Here are comprehensive Dynamics 365 10.0.49 release notes, intended to help you navigate this update so smoothly and seamlessly that it feels like second nature, not a fire drill.

Who Should Care About the Dynamics 365 10.0.49 Update?

The Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management 10.0.49 update introduces mandatory feature changes, platform updates, Supply Chain enhancements, Finance improvements, and development-tool requirements that can significantly affect testing, deployment planning, and day-to-day operations.

This update deserves immediate attention if you:

  • Are still running Dynamics 365 version 10.0.47 and need to remain compliant with Microsoft’s One Version policy.
  • Maintain custom X++ code or ISV solutions that require testing before deployment.
  • Manage Finance operations, particularly Accounts Receivable, Cash and Bank Management, budgeting, or Electronic Reporting.
  • Depend on Planning Optimization, warehousing, manufacturing, or procurement processes that could be affected by operational changes in 10.0.49.
  • Need to prepare for Visual Studio 2026, which becomes the supported development environment beginning with the next major platform release.
  • Want to avoid a forced production deployment when Microsoft’s October and November auto-update windows arrive.

If any of these scenarios apply to your organization, treat Dynamics 365 F&SCM 10.0.49 as a planned business initiative rather than a routine service update. Early testing, validation, and deployment planning can help reduce risk and maintain control over your update timeline.

Dynamics 365 10.0.48 vs. 10.0.49: What Changed Between Releases?

Version 10.0.48 emphasized invoice governance, compliance, Planning Optimization previews, and the initial expansion of ERP MCP capabilities. Dynamics 365 10.0.49 shifts toward supplier lifecycle management, budget and encumbrance controls, operational telemetry, deeper ERP MCP refinements, and a considerably larger Feature Management impact. Several Supply Chain previews introduced or highlighted in 10.0.48 also become generally available, mandatory, or enabled by default in version 10.0.49.

Dynamics 365 10.0.48 vs. 10.0.49
Area Version 10.0.48 Version 10.0.49
Primary Release Emphasis Compliance infrastructure, invoice governance, Planning Optimization previews, and initial ERP MCP expansion. Supplier lifecycle management, budget control, planning precision, Electronic Reporting, telemetry, and Feature Management governance.
Procurement Procurement Agent Impact Analysis evaluates downstream effects of supplier-proposed purchase-order changes. Supplier Engagement introduces a preview of a global vendor record, buyer application, and supplier-facing portal.
Planning Optimization Introduced or highlighted previews including confirmed-demand protection and soft issue margins. Several earlier previews reach general availability, while new logic addresses transport calendars, coverage time fences, and supply-forecast reduction.
France Compliance Electronic invoicing capability for relevant French invoicing scenarios. Electronic reporting of specified French business transactions through an approved intermediary platform.
Electronic Reporting Primarily compliance and maintenance-oriented improvements. Native GS1 barcodes, DIV and MOD formula functions, copy-count support, memory optimization, and enhanced validation management.
ERP MCP Deep links, attachment support, and SQL-based read tooling expanded agent-driven ERP scenarios. Data, form-control, document, query-timeout, and human-in-the-loop annotation enhancements refine reliability and governance.
Feature Management New features required testing based on preview, default, or manual enablement status. A substantially larger group becomes mandatory, enabled by default, generally available, or removed from Feature Management as permanent behavior.
Developer Readiness Platform and X++ improvements required customary code review. Microsoft announces that Visual Studio 2026 replaces Visual Studio 2022 support for X++ beginning with PU74, making 10.0.49 the preparation cycle.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&SCM 10.0.49 Update Release Schedule

Rather than giving you the 10.0.49 release date, which, for General Availability, slated for September 11, 2026, it’s more useful strategically to provide the announced D365 10.0.49 release schedule, starting months previously in July 2026.

Key Milestone Event Date
Public Preview Available July 27, 2026
Latest Preview Update August 17, 2026
General Availability (Self-Update) September 11, 2026
Auto-Update to Production (Window 1) October 2, 2026
Auto-Update to Production (Window 2) November 1, 2026
End of Service May 21, 2027

Microsoft lists the Dynamics 365 10.0.49 platform update as a major release, which is the designation it applies to the larger quarterly drops. Two auto-update windows are available, four weeks apart, and you select the one that fits your validation calendar in Lifecycle Services. Sandbox environments update seven days ahead of production in both windows, which is the short runway most teams actually get to catch problems.

D365 platform updates roll out earlier than Finance and SCM features because they touch the underlying infrastructure and need to stabilize before application updates deploy.

For a better understanding of what each phase of the Dynamics 365 release schedule displayed above means for you and your business, keep reading.

What Does “Public Preview Available” (July 27, 2026) Mean in the D365 10.0.49 Platform Update Schedule?

In the D365 F&SCM 10.0.49 release schedule, Public Preview Available means Microsoft released an early build that administrators can self-deploy into sandbox, demo, or development environments for testing and feedback. A single scheduled refresh to that preview build shipped on August 17, 2026.

Production deployment is not supported at this stage of the Dynamics 365 scheduled updates, Microsoft Technical Support does not cover preview issues, and most new features must be enabled manually through the Feature Management workspace.

Think of this phase of the Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations 10.0.49 release schedule, as your organization’s controlled window to get ahead of what is coming, particularly for the preview features in this release that carry real operational consequences if you enable them without testing.

Use the interactive timeline below to see where version 10.0.49 sits in Microsoft’s release cycle, what each stage means, and what action your team should prioritize. The component automatically marks the current phase based on the visitor’s date, so the “you are here” position moves without manual updates.

End of Service: New Cumulative Updates Stop for 10.0.49

End of service marks the date after which Microsoft no longer provides new cumulative service updates for this build. Your organization must remain aligned with a supported One Version release.

EnvironmentAll supported cloud environments
Primary GoalRemain supported
Control LevelLifecycle governed
PriorityPlan subsequent releases
Recommended Action Maintain a continuously funded update program rather than treating each One Version release as an isolated emergency project.

What Does "General Availability (Self-Update)" (September 11, 2026) Mean in the D365 10.0.49 Platform Update Schedule?

General Availability in the D365 release schedule marks the point at which Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management 10.0.49 is production-ready and fully supported by Microsoft. This is often what people are looking for when searching for service update availability in Dynamics 365 F&SCM.

From September 11, 2026, organizations can pull and apply the update to UAT and production environments through Microsoft Dynamics Lifecycle Services before the October auto-update forces it.

That gap in the Dynamics 365 F&SCM release schedule is three weeks if you take the first auto-update window and seven weeks if you take the second. It is your team's best and last opportunity to test integrations, validate customizations, and deploy on your own schedule rather than Microsoft's.

What Does "Auto-Update to Production" (October 2 and November 1, 2026) Mean in the D365 10.0.49 Platform Update Schedule?

The Auto-Update to Production stage of the D365 F&O release schedule for the latest version of Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management means Microsoft automatically deploys version 10.0.49 to your live production environment on your configured schedule date, whether your organization is ready or not. You choose between the October 2 and November 1 windows in Lifecycle Services update settings, but you do not get to decline both.

At that point, manual scheduling is overridden and platform compliance is enforced. This is a point we cannot emphasize enough about the Microsoft Dynamics 365 update schedule: foundational platform changes take effect immediately on deployment, even for application features that still require manual activation through Feature Management, so it’s imperative that you are prepared. Organizations that have not completed sandbox testing by their chosen date are accepting uncontrolled risk in production.

How Often is Dynamics 365 F&SCM Updated?

Microsoft updates Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management four times per year, with production auto-updates in February, April, July, and October. This quarterly D365 F&SCM release schedule sits inside two annual release waves: Wave 1 runs April through September, Wave 2 runs October through March.

Customers must take a minimum of two service updates per year and can take up to four. You can pause one update at a time, applied to the UAT sandbox, production, or both. Once the pause window ends, if you have not self-updated to a supported version, Microsoft applies the latest platform updates for version 10.0.49 automatically based on your Lifecycle Services configuration. Version 10.0.49 carries an end of service date of May 21, 2027, which is when cumulative service updates stop for that build.

What Happens If You Do Nothing About the Dynamics 365 10.0.49 Update?

Doing nothing does not stop the One Version schedule. Microsoft makes each service update available for self-deployment before automatically applying it according to the update settings in Lifecycle Services.

Customers can choose between two production auto-update windows, but they must take at least two service updates each year and can pause only one update at a time. Use the timeline below to understand what control your team retains at each stage and what you risk losing by waiting.

What Happens If You Do Nothing About the D365 10.0.49 Update
Date or Stage What Happens Control You Retain Risk of Waiting
July 27, 2026 Public Preview becomes available for non-production evaluation. Highest Control
Test customizations, integrations, mandatory changes, and preview functionality before general availability.
Waiting compresses the time available to discover conflicts before the production-ready release.
August 17, 2026 The scheduled preview refresh becomes available. Controlled Testing
Refresh testing against the latest preview build and confirm whether previous findings still apply.
Testing only the first preview build can leave later changes unvalidated.
September 11, 2026 Version 10.0.49 becomes generally available for self-update. Last Self-Directed Window
Deploy through Lifecycle Services after sandbox validation and choose your production timing.
The first production auto-update window is only three weeks away.
October 2, 2026 The first production auto-update window begins. Reduced Control
Your selected Lifecycle Services configuration determines when Microsoft applies the update.
Mandatory features, default-enabled behavior, integrations, and customizations can reach production without sufficient validation.
November 1, 2026 The second production auto-update window begins. Final Window
You cannot decline both scheduled production windows.
Waiting until the final window leaves little room for remediation if testing reveals a blocker.
PU74 / 10.0.50 Visual Studio 2026 becomes the supported IDE for X++ development, replacing Visual Studio 2022 support. Prepare During 10.0.49
Validate developer workstations, build agents, development VMs, and ISV dependencies before PU74.
Unsupported tooling or uncertified dependencies can become build and release blockers.
May 21, 2027 Version 10.0.49 reaches end of service. No New Cumulative Updates
Your organization must remain on a supported release path.
Microsoft no longer provides new cumulative service updates for the 10.0.49 build after this date.

Source basis for the table: Microsoft’s targeted schedule lists all dated milestones shown above, identifies 10.0.49 as a major release, states that sandbox updates occur seven days before production, and defines end of service as the point when new cumulative service updates stop. Microsoft’s platform notes state that Visual Studio 2022 is no longer supported for X++ beginning with PU74 and that Visual Studio 2026 is supported.

Dynamics 365 10.0.49 Developer & Technical Updates: Major Developer Toolchain Change in D365 10.0.49 (Read This Before You Plan Your Upgrade)

This is the item most likely to be overlooked in the latest platform update for Dynamics 365, 10.0.49, because it does not appear in Feature Management, and it does not change anything a business user touches. But there are several key D365 10.0.49 developer and technical updates to be aware of before you even begin crafting a roadmap.

Starting with PU74, which ships as version 10.0.50, Microsoft no longer supports Visual Studio 2022 for X++ development. Only Visual Studio 2026 is supported. Microsoft called this out in the 10.0.49 platform notes specifically so teams have a full release cycle to prepare rather than discovering it when a build fails.

The timing is tighter than it looks. Version 10.0.50 reaches preview on October 23, 2026 and general availability on December 22, 2026. Counting back from there, the practical migration window is the 10.0.49 cycle, which is right now.

The platform update D365 10.0.49 runtime itself does not require the new IDE. This is a development environment change, not an application change, which is exactly why it slips past upgrade planning that focuses on Feature Management toggles and regression testing.

Why This Matters for Your Business as You Plan Your Dynamics 10.0.49 Rollout (3 Key Takeaways from the D365 10.0.49 Release)

Dynamics 365 version 10.0.49 is positioned to have a significant impact on your business. Whether that impact is positive or negative, however, depends on how well you prepare for the update. Here’s why the Dynamics 365 10.0.49 service update matter for your business:

  1. Developer workstations and build agents both need attention. It is not enough to install Visual Studio 2026 on a few developer laptops. Your Azure DevOps build agents, any self-hosted pipeline infrastructure, and your development VMs all need to be on the supported toolchain before PU74 lands.
  1. ISV solutions are on someone else's timeline. If you run third-party solutions with X++ components, those partners need to certify their builds against Visual Studio 2026. That is a conversation to start now, not in December. Independent software vendors do not always move on your schedule, and a solution that will not compile is a hard blocker.
  1. You cannot pause your way out of it. Pausing a service update buys time on the application side. It does not change the fact that the supported development toolchain has moved. Organizations that maintain active custom X++ development need this migration finished inside the 10.0.49 window.

The practical takeaway as you navigate running the D365 10.0.49 service update is to treat the toolchain migration as its own workstream with its own owner, separate from the functional testing you are doing on 10.0.49 features. Prove that a full build succeeds on Visual Studio 2026 in a non-production pipeline, then move your primary development environments. Now, the next part of our Dynamics 365 10.0.49 release notesgets into a too-often overlooked component: licensing.

Licensing Enforcement Is Still Live (Read Before Toggling Features)

Microsoft's active license validation for Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management, which began its staged rollout on January 15, 2026, remains live infrastructure through the D365 version 10.0.49 cycle. Enforcement is tied to each tenant's renewal or anniversary date rather than a single global cutover, so the date it becomes real for your organization depends on your contract.

This matters for D365 version 10.0.49 platform updates adoption in a specific way. As your team evaluates features and toggles them on through Feature Management, each activation can surface role-based access requirements that trigger license validation. Supplier Engagement is the clearest example in this release, since it introduces a buyer app and external supplier portal access that need to be licensed and secured deliberately rather than switched on to see what happens.

The reality is that, for the D365 10.0.49 update, practical guidance has not materially changed since 10.0.48. Fold license review into your Feature Management workflow before you enable anything new. Confirm who needs access, what role gets assigned, and whether that role carries a licensing implication. That is how you avoid surprise access disruptions in the middle of testing.

Why License Enforcement Still Matters as You Plan Your Dynamics 365 10.0.49 Rollout

License validation is not separate from your 10.0.49 rollout. Security roles determine licensing requirements in Finance, Supply Chain Management, and Commerce, so enabling a feature, assigning a new role, or expanding a user’s responsibilities can expose a licensing gap that was already present in your environment.

Microsoft provides role-based licensing reports to identify unlicensed and under-licensed users before those gaps become access problems. Here are four reasons licensing should be part of your 10.0.49 testing plan:

  1. User access depends on correct license assignment. Microsoft states that users must have the appropriate subscription licenses for the security roles and functionality assigned to them. A feature can pass functional testing while the users expected to operate it remain incorrectly licensed.
  2. Security-role changes can change license requirements. Licensing requirements are derived from the subroles, duties, privileges, and securable objects included in each assigned role. That means a seemingly minor role adjustment can change what a user is required to be licensed for.
  3. Supplier Engagement introduces a new access-governance surface. The preview includes a buyer application and supplier-facing experience, so your evaluation should document who needs internal access, who receives external portal access, which roles apply, and how that access will be reviewed before a supported rollout. Supplier Engagement remains a preview feature in 10.0.49.
  4. Licensing must be reviewed across environments. Microsoft’s License Usage Summary focuses on one environment, while the Power Platform admin center can provide a tenant-wide view across connected Finance and Operations environments. Reviewing only production can leave mismatches in sandboxes or other connected environments undiscovered.

The practical takeaway is simple: add licensing validation to the same gate you use for security, regression testing, and production approval. Before enabling a 10.0.49 feature, confirm the role, the users who will receive it, the required license, and whether that license is correctly assigned.

7 Essential New Features in the Dynamics 365 Finance 10.0.49 Update to Know

As you know, enhancements are the only thing to get excited about with the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance 10.0.49 version release. New features are the marquis item. Here are Finance modules receiving meaningful attention in 10.0.49 with Dynamics 365 new features:

1. Accounts Receivable

2. Budgeting

3. Cash and Bank Management

4. Fixed Assets

5. Electronic Reporting

6. Globalization and Regulatory Reporting

7. Subscription Billing

1. Accounts Receivable

Accounts Receivable gets one targeted change in 10.0.49, and it addresses a limitation that has forced workarounds in organizations billing against line-level commitments. Here are Dynamics 365 Finance new features, specifically for AR in version 10.0.49.

Line-Level Prepayment Flow

Customer prepayments in D365 Finance have historically been calculated at the invoice header. This is where we are starting with D365 new features in Finance. D365 finance version 10.0.49 adds a parameter on the Accounts receivable parameters page that lets you choose whether customer prepayments are calculated at the header or at the line.

The parameter becomes available once the Prepayment customer invoice feature is enabled in Feature Management. Header-level calculation stays available and unchanged, so this is an option rather than a migration. Existing prepayment processes are not disturbed by the update itself.

The distinction matters for organizations whose prepayment terms attach to specific deliverables rather than to the invoice as a whole. With the D365 Finance 10.0.49 platform update, project-based billing, phased equipment delivery, and mixed invoices where only part of the order requires payment up front all benefit from calculating the prepayment against the relevant lines.

Use line-level when the prepayment belongs to specific lines, and keep header-level when the prepayment applies to the whole invoice. (Parameter)

2. Budgeting

Budgeting receives the largest cluster of Finance improvements in this release of D365 Finance and Operations updates in 2026, and the theme is consistent throughout. Each change removes a manual step or restores visibility that budget-controlled organizations were losing somewhere in the process. Public sector organizations and anyone running encumbrance accounting should read this section closely.

Automatically Post General Budget Reservations Using Workflow

Another new feature included in the Dynamics 365 Finance 10.0.49 platform update involves general budget reservations. General budget reservations that go through workflow approval have required someone to post them by hand afterward. Approval finished, and then the reservation sat waiting for a manual action before it hit the ledger.

New Dynamics 365 Finance features in Version 10.0.49 add an option in budgeting workflows to post general budget reservations automatically when workflow approval completes. The gap between approval and posting closes on its own.

For organizations processing general budget reservations in volume, such D365 Finance features remove a queue that serves no control purpose. The approval already happened. Everything after that was administrative overhead, and it introduced delay between the commitment being approved and the commitment being visible in budget control. (Feature Management)

Option to Exclude Closing Period Transactions from Encumbrance Reporting

Dynamics 365 Finance version 10.0.49 will also be adding to encumberance reporting. The Outstanding encumbrance report has included transactions posted to closing periods, which distorts the year-end view of what is genuinely still committed. Closing-period activity mixes in with remaining open commitments, and reviewers have to mentally separate the two.

This feature in the Dynamics 365 Finance 10.0.49 service update adds an option to exclude closing-period transactions from that report. Public sector and budget-controlled organizations can review open commitments at year-end and see only the commitments that are actually outstanding.

The value of the Dynamics 365 Finance features included in 10.0.49 for encumbrance reporting, then, is concentrated at year-end review, when controllers need a clean answer to what remains committed and closing entries are actively muddying the report. (Feature Management)

Preserve Budget Check Indicators After Finalization

Other great D365 Finance features included in 10.0.49 include budget check indicators.

Budget check indicators have been disappearing at the point where they are arguably most useful. When a purchase order was partially invoiced and then finalized, the indicator showing that budget had been consumed went away, even though the budget impact was real and had already occurred.

The D365 Finance 10.0.49 service update keeps those indicators visible after a document is partially consumed and then finalized. The behavior is controlled by the Preserve budget check indicators parameter on the Budgeting parameters page, and this release extends the same treatment to general budget reservation lines that are partially consumed and then finalized.

For anyone reviewing budget-controlled documents after the fact, this addition to Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations 10.0.49 is the difference between seeing an accurate picture and seeing a document that looks like it never touched the budget. (Feature Management)

Other Budgeting Updates in D365 Finance 10.0.49

Two additional budgeting items ship in these Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance updates. Automatic accounting date advancement for budget-controlled purchase requisition and purchase order workflows moves the accounting date to the next open fiscal period in the same year when a period is closed or on hold mid-workflow, then re-evaluates budget control against the new date. Separately, a data maintenance feature detects corruption in source document budget control tracking, adding diagnostics in Budget control data maintenance that surface orphaned tracking records and broken relieving relationships before you attempt a repair. (Feature Management)

3. Cash and Bank Management

Cash and Bank Management improvements in D365 Finance and Operations 10.0.49 focus on throughput and control during reconciliation and payment posting. These are the changes most likely to shorten a period-end that currently runs long.

Here’s an overview of key additions included in the latest D365 Finance updates.

Delay Settlement from Journal Posting

In version 10.0.49 of Dynamics 365 Finance, customer and vendor payment journals can now post even when settlement cannot complete. Settlement is queued for background processing or handled from a dedicated page rather than blocking the posting itself.

In high-volume payment processing, a settlement that cannot resolve has meant a journal that will not post, which stalls everything behind it. By separating the two, service update 10.0.49 lets the payment land and the settlement resolve on its own timeline. (Admin)

Preview Automatic Bank Reconciliation Matching Results

With the latest D365 F&O service update, reconciliation teams can review and approve matching-rule results before transactions are posted and marked as matched with version 10.0.49 of Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations. Automated matching has been effectively all or nothing, which makes teams reluctant to enable aggressive rules on accounts where a bad match is expensive to unwind.

A review step in front of posting changes that calculation. You can run broader matching logic and still keep a human checkpoint before anything commits. (Admin)

Additional Cash and Bank Management Updates

Two further improvements round out the module with the latest Dynamics 365 Finance updates. Bridged customer payments created through centralized vendor payments can now be cleared automatically using the bank reconciliation framework. And selecting bridge transactions during bank clearance is significantly faster, because you can filter by bank account, vendor or customer, payment reference, check number, and date range before the data loads rather than pulling the full bridge set and filtering afterward. Organizations with large bridge account volumes will notice the second one immediately. (Admin)

4. Fixed Assets

Fixed Assets improvements in the Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations platform update version 10.0.49 center on reporting currency accuracy, which is a persistent source of reconciliation work in multi-currency environments.

Reporting Currency Handling for Fixed Asset Splits

Splitting a fixed asset has been able to produce inconsistent reporting currency values on the resulting assets. Version 10.0.49 of the Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations version upgrade update maintains consistency by carrying the applicable exchange rate information forward from the original asset to the new one.

For fixed asset accountants working in reporting currency, this removes a class of manual correction that only surfaces later, usually during a reconciliation, and usually well after the split happened. (Feature Management)

Other Fixed Assets Updates in 10.0.49

Two more items ship in this area with the latest Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations updates in 2026. For organizations with Indian legal entities, a feature populates reporting currency amounts for fixed asset income tax depreciation, calculating those amounts on depreciation proposal transactions from configured exchange rates. Note the enablement constraint: you cannot turn it on if unposted journals or posted fixed asset transactions carry a zero reporting-currency amount, so plan for a data review before you enable it. Separately, a preview feature lets you generate, review, and post reporting-currency adjustment entries for fixed assets. (Feature Management, and Feature Management Preview respectively)

5. Electronic Reporting

Electronic Reporting gets real capability additions in version 10.0.49 of Dynamics 365 Finance updates in 2026 instead of just maintenance. If your organization builds or maintains ER configurations, this is the section to read.

GS1 Barcode Formats in Electronic Reporting

In version 10.0.49 of Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management, GS1 is the global barcode standard used across retail, warehousing, supply chain, transportation, and healthcare. Electronic Reporting now generates GS1 barcodes natively, with three new formats available in the barcode data source: GS1-128, GS1 DataMatrix, and GS1 QR Code.

Generating compliant GS1 barcodes previously meant working outside ER or bolting on a third-party component. Now, with Dynamics 365 F&SCM 10.0.49, the barcode is produced as part of the report design, in the same place as the rest of the document logic. For organizations printing labels, shipping documents, or healthcare documentation that must carry GS1 codes, this closes a gap that has driven a lot of custom work. (Default)

DIV and MOD Functions in ER Formulas

Two functions join the ER formula language with the D365 Finance and Supply Chain Management 10.0.49 update: DIV(a, b) for integer division and MOD(a, b) for the remainder of integer division.

That sounds small until you look at what it enables. Microsoft lists the typical uses as pagination, packaging quantities, currency splits, period bucketing, and check-digit calculations. Every one of those has previously required either awkward formula gymnastics or logic living outside the report. Keeping the math inside the formula language means the report logic stays in one place and stays maintainable. This represents a massive improvement for end-users after running Dynamics 365 10.0.49 platform updates. (Default)

Number of Copies Applied for ER Destinations

Print management has let you configure the number of copies for a document, but ER destinations were not honoring that setting. Version 10.0.49, the D365 latest version, makes ER print the number of copies configured in Print management, along with the number requested in ad hoc print dialogs, across the standard entry points for ER documents driven by Print management.

This is a small fix with a disproportionate effect on anyone in AP, AR, or finance operations who has been manually reprinting documents because the copy count they configured was quietly ignored. (Default)

Other Electronic Reporting Updates in 10.0.49

Two performance and governance items also ship with Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management 10.0.49. A memory optimization for large ER executions reduces peak memory during report runs by limiting object creation, avoiding redundant in-memory copies, and reusing data structures, which matters for organizations running large regulatory extracts. And enhanced validation management for ER configurations lets you validate multiple configuration versions in a single operation, with version-level tracking and persistent validation history rather than one-off validation results that disappear, making this one of the more compelling inclusions in our Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations 10.0.49 release notes to business leaders. (Feature Management)

6. Globalization and Regulatory Reporting

Electronic Reporting of Transactions for France (e-Reporting)

Of course, no Dynamics 365 updates in 2026, release notes would be complete without mentioning Electronic Reporting. France's e-reporting requirements for continuous transaction control arrive in the Dynamics 365 latest version in 2026, 10.0.49. Specified business transactions are reported through an approved intermediary platform.

It’s worth calling out in D365 Finance and Operations release notes that this is the companion piece to the French electronic invoicing capability delivered in 10.0.48. Where e-invoicing covers domestic B2B invoice exchange, e-reporting covers the transaction data France requires organizations to report separately. Organizations with French legal entities should be evaluating both together rather than treating them as unrelated projects, since the compliance obligation spans them. (Feature Management)

7. Subscription Billing

Multi-Element Revenue Allocation Termination Revenue Adjustment (Preview)

Multi-element revenue allocation termination revenue adjustment is also important to keep in mind when reading Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations release notes.

This preview feature corrects multi-element revenue allocation during contract updates and termination. For organizations running MEA arrangements, termination has been a known source of allocation error that required manual adjustment afterward.

Still, it’s important to know that this is a preview feature in D365 update 10.0.49, treat this as evaluation-only. Test it against your actual contract termination scenarios in a sandbox before forming any view on production readiness. (Feature Management, Preview)

Now that we have covered Finance, let's move to what supply chain and logistics leaders need to know as we round out our Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management release notes for version 10.0.49.

What’s New or Changed in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management 10.0.49?

The Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management 10.0.49 platform update focuses on improving procurement, planning accuracy, production controls, warehouse operations, and inventory governance. Here's what's new or changed in D365 SCM 10.0.49:

  • Supplier Engagement (Preview) introduces a new approach to supplier lifecycle management, vendor onboarding, and supplier self-service
  • Planning Optimization enhancements improve scheduling accuracy and reduce unnecessary supply recommendations
  • Production Control improvements strengthen batch traceability and shop floor governance
  • Warehouse Management updates simplify inbound shipment processing and data synchronization
  • Product lifecycle and governance enhancements help organizations manage products more effectively throughout their lifecycle
  • Inventory and quality updates address inventory growth, pricing management, and operational visibility

Again, this is a high-level answer for those wondering, When it comes to Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management 10.0.49, what’s new? Below are the six Supply Chain Management areas receiving the most significant updates in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management version 10.0.49.

6 Key New Features in the Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management 10.0.49 Update for Supply Chain & Logistics Leaders

Supply Chain carries the most significant new capability in this release. Here are the six Supply Chain areas to know that are getting new features in the D365 F&SCM 10.0.49 update:

  1. Procurement and Sourcing
  2. Master Planning
  3. Production Control
  4. Warehouse Management
  5. Product Information Management
  6. Inventory Management, Quality, and Pricing

1. Procurement and Sourcing

Supplier Engagement (Preview)

Supplier Engagement is the largest new capability in the Dynamics 365 SCM 10.0.49 platform update, and it’s the new feature worth the most attention from procurement leadership, even though it is a preview.

It covers the supplier lifecycle from registration through RFQs, purchase orders, invoices, and consignment. Three components make it up with Dynamics 365 SCM version 10.0.49,. A global vendor record is maintained once and then released to local vendor accounts in each legal entity, which addresses the long-standing problem of maintaining the same supplier separately in every company. A model-driven buyer app gives procurement teams a working surface for qualification, certificates, risk, and portal user access. A supplier portal lets suppliers self-register, respond to RFQs, review purchase orders, and submit invoices themselves.

The operational argument is straightforward for organizations running multiple legal entities. Today, onboarding one supplier across five companies means five vendor records, five sets of banking details, and five opportunities for the data to drift apart. A global vendor released to local accounts changes that shape entirely. This is what makes this one of the most impactful new Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management features included in version 10.0.49.

Like with all D365 new features, Set expectations on timing. Microsoft lists public preview in July 2026 and general availability in March 2027. Preview features are not intended for production use, so the right posture through the D365 Supply Chain Management 10.0.49 platform update cycle is structured evaluation. Understand the model, test it against how your procurement organization actually works, and plan for a 2027 rollout rather than a 2026 one. (Feature Management, Preview)

Other Procurement and Sourcing Updates in 10.0.49

Two smaller items ship alongside it with the D365 SCM 10.0.49 platform update. RFQ bid-driven updates now apply to related fixed asset fields in the purchase requisition process. And a new purchase parameter with an origin prompt controls whether establishments synchronize between sales orders and purchase orders on direct delivery, which matters for organizations that adopted the establishment governance model introduced in 10.0.48.

Separately, financial tags are now supported in procurement documents in the D365 SCM 10.0.49 service update, with tags flowing across requisitions, purchase orders, agreements, RFQs, and ownership-change journals. (Default and Feature Management)

2. Master Planning

Both Master Planning changes in the Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management 10.0.49 service update correct cases where Planning Optimization was producing plans that looked right in the system and wrong in reality.

Closed for Pickup Policy on the Transport Calendar

By default, Planning Optimization considers the Closed for pickup setting only on the issuing warehouse calendar. If the warehouse was open, the plan scheduled a transfer shipment, even when the carrier could not collect that day.

This feature makes Planning Optimization honor Closed for pickup on the transport calendar as well. The shipping date must be open on both calendars, so warehouse closures and carrier closures each block the day. The feature also establishes that the receiving warehouse calendar takes precedence over the coverage group calendar when determining the receipt date.

Consider a warehouse closed for pickup on Wednesdays and a mode of delivery closed for pickup on Fridays. Previously the plan only respected the Wednesday closure and would happily schedule a Friday shipment nobody could execute. Now, with the D365 Supply Chain Management 10.0.49 service update, both apply and planners stop manually correcting dates the system should have gotten right. (Feature Management)

Filter Derived Requirements by Coverage Time Fence

Coverage time fences exist to keep planners from drowning in supply suggestions for demand that is months away. That has worked for independent demand, but derived requirements were slipping through and generating supply well outside the fence of the item being replenished.

When this feature is enabled, Planning Optimization no longer replenishes derived requirements that fall outside the coverage time fence of the item being replenished. It covers internally created demand broadly, including planned transfer issues, BOM and formula components, safety stock, expired supply, and kanban components. The fence lookup follows the same hierarchy a sales order uses: item coverage first, then coverage group, then the global fence.

For planners working multi-level BOMs or transfer networks, this cuts a meaningful volume of noise from the planned order list. Suggestions that fall months beyond the fence stop appearing, which is what the fence was configured to accomplish in the first place. This is a powerful addition with Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management version 10.0.49. (Feature Management)

Other Master Planning Updates in 10.0.49

Forecast consumption with Planning Optimization can now reflect sub-BOM and sub-route structure rather than only the top-level BOM in D365 SCM version 10.0.49, which improves supply forecast reduction accuracy for manufacturers with deep product structures. (Feature Management)

3. Production Control

Enforce Same-Batch Selection for Raw Materials (Preview)

This preview included in D365 Supply Chain Management version 10.0.49 requires raw materials on production and batch orders to come from a single batch per BOM or formula line, rather than allowing reservation to pull from whatever combination of batches satisfies the quantity.

The default comes from the item model group and can be overridden on individual BOM or formula lines where mixing lots is acceptable. During estimation, reservation attempts to take the full line quantity from one batch.

Process manufacturers know exactly why this matters. When an ingredient must come from one lot to guarantee a uniform mix, or when batch traceability has to hold cleanly through production, mixed-lot consumption creates quality and traceability problems that surface downstream.

There is an important behavior to understand before enabling it. If no single batch can fulfill the line, nothing is reserved. That is the correct behavior for the requirement, but it changes how shortages present themselves on the shop floor, and your planners need to know that going in. Please note, this is preview functionality of version 10.0.49 Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management and should not be used in production. (Feature Management, Preview)

Prevent Shop Floor Activity After Daily Registrations Are Calculated

Once daily time registrations are calculated, additional clock-in, clock-out, job start, and job stop entries could still be recorded against that day, quietly invalidating the calculation that already ran.

As one of the most anticipated Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Features included in version 10.0.49, this blocks those entries after calculation. The worker sees an error explaining that registrations are already processed for the day and is directed to contact a supervisor. Supervisors have a defined path to reopen the day: select Undo calculation for today on the Approve page, after which the worker can register again.

For time and attendance teams, this closes a gap where a calculated day could change underneath them with no clear signal that it had. (Feature Management)

Other Production Control Updates in 10.0.49

Batch auto-scale and priority-based scheduling for message processor queues lets the Number of processor tasks setting use capacity beyond a single batch server when auto-scale is enabled, with support for priority, batch groups, and maximum concurrency. Organizations processing high message volumes through the message processor should evaluate this one and consider it one of the D365 Supply Chain Management features included in version 10.0.49 with the most potential to make an impact. (Feature Management)

4. Warehouse Management

Import Inbound ASNs as Despatch Advice Messages

Some of the most impactful Dynamics 365 SCM features included in version 10.0.49 will be found in warehouse management.

A despatch advice is an inbound advanced shipping notice imported as a queued message and processed asynchronously, rather than written directly through data entities.

That architectural difference delivers two capabilities that the classic ASN entities could not. Message dependencies allow the source order to be imported before the ASN that references it, so a vendor sending an ASN ahead of your order processing no longer produces a failure. And full-document updates mean a resubmitted despatch advice replaces the prior document entirely, with records no longer on the shipment cleaned up rather than left behind as orphans.

The requirements are worth noting. It applies to WMS items, and the purchase order or inbound shipment order must already be registered. The classic Inbound ASN data entities remain available, so this is an additional path rather than a replacement.

Inbound teams working with vendors who send ASNs in sequence, or who send corrections to shipments already advised, are the clear beneficiaries. Correction handling in particular has been a manual cleanup exercise, which is where these types of D365 SCM features included in version 10.0.49 can be a true gamechanger. (Default)

Other Warehouse Management Updates in 10.0.49

Two items ship here that are worth including in our D365 Finance and Supply Chain Management release notes for 10.0.49. A feature prevents multiple owners in warehouse locations by requiring all inventory in a location to share the same Owner dimension, which applies to 3PL, consignment, WMS-only, and multi-legal-entity warehouses. And source system inventory status mapping translates inventory status values when exchanging data with an external source system in WMS-only mode. Both are enabled by default, so identify them during sandbox testing rather than discovering the behavior change in production. (Default)

5. Product Information Management

Product Lifecycle State Policies Without Engineering Change Management

An exciting inclusion in the D365 Finance & Supply Chain Management updates for 2026, This capability reached general availability in 10.0.49 after a period in preview, which is why it appears in this release even though some teams will recognize it from earlier notes.

It lets you configure product lifecycle state business process policies when Engineering Change Management configuration keys are not enabled. You can govern purchasing, sales, and production based on lifecycle states without adopting ECM, setting each process to Enabled, Blocked, or Enabled with warning.

The practical scenarios are easy to picture. Allow a prototype item to be purchased but attach a warning so buyers know what they are ordering. Or for a discontinued product, permit sales of remaining stock while blocking new purchases and new production so the inventory runs down cleanly instead of being unintentionally replenished.

Configuration lives under Product information management, Setup, Product lifecycle state, which is also where you control whether a given state is active for planning. If your organization already runs ECM, you do not need this feature, because ECM already provides these lifecycle rules. (Feature Management)

6. Inventory Management, Quality, and Pricing

Optimized Inventory Transaction Consolidation (Preview)

InventTrans growth is a real cost problem in long-running environments, and this preview addresses it directly by consolidating financially updated inventory transactions in a selected closed ledger period.

The mechanics matter here. Detail rows move to InventTransArchive, and summary rows are written back to InventTrans grouped by item and dimension. From there you can archive InventTransArchive using Dataverse long-term retention. The period must be closed, at least one year old, and inventory closing must have been run against it.

Before anyone gets enthusiastic about the storage savings, understand the tradeoff. After consolidation you cannot cancel inventory closing for that period, and you cannot process returns against the original transactions. That is a permanent constraint on historical data, not a reversible setting. This is preview functionality, and the evaluation needs to include finance and audit stakeholders rather than being treated as an IT storage decision. (Feature Management, Preview)

Unified Pricing Management Change Tracking

Listed under Sales and marketing in the release notes, this enhancement tracks changes to global Unified pricing management rules, discounts, and trade agreements. It writes change-tracking rows to the RetailPriceChangeTracking table so Azure Product Search is notified when those prices change.

Without it, global pricing changes could be applied in D365 and not reflected in storefront search results, which produces exactly the kind of price discrepancy that erodes customer trust and generates support volume. Commerce and pricing teams running Unified pricing management should treat this as a required enablement rather than an optional one. (Feature Management)

Other Inventory Updates in 10.0.49

The CAPA case note viewer, previously read-only, is replaced with an HTML editor so formatted notes can be created directly on the CAPA case log. Quality teams documenting corrective and preventive actions get a usable editing surface instead of a display field. (Feature Management)

Now that we have covered the Finance and Supply Chain features, let's look at the platform layer.

3 Dynamics 365 10.0.49 Platform Updates to Know

Dynamics 365 service updates affect infrastructure, tooling, and cross-application services. They deploy earlier in the release cycle and take effect on deployment regardless of Feature Management settings. Here are the three Microsoft Dynamics 365 updates in 2026 that matter in version 10.0.49:

  1. Visual Studio 2026 Required for X++ Development
  2. Batch Job Occurrence Telemetry
  3. Dynamics 365 ERP MCP Server Enhancements

Version 10.0.49 corresponds to PU73 and carries build number 10.0.2790, which is worth noting because several platform items in this Dynamics 365 service update release are versioned by build rather than by release.

1. Visual Studio 2026 Required for X++ Development

We covered this in detail earlier because of its planning implications, but this Microsoft Dynamics 365 update belongs in the platform list as well.

Starting with PU74, which ships as version 10.0.50, Visual Studio 2022 is no longer supported for X++ development. Visual Studio 2026 is the supported IDE. Microsoft surfaced this Microsoft Dynamics 365 update in the 10.0.49 platform notes to give teams a full cycle to migrate developer machines and build environments.

There is no Feature Management switch with this service update in D365 F&SCM. The 10.0.49 runtime does not require the new IDE, so nothing breaks the day you take this update. The deadline is PU74, and the work is moving workstations, build agents, and any ISV dependencies onto the supported toolchain before then.

2. Batch Job Occurrence Telemetry

Batch job occurrence telemetry is also one of the 3 new updates in Dynamics 365 10.0.49 you should know. Application Insights has shown batch task telemetry for some time, which tells you what individual tasks did but not whether the parent job actually completed. Administrators have been able to see the pieces without seeing the whole.

The Dynamics 365 update version 10.0.49 adds batch job occurrence telemetry on top of the existing task signals. You can now see when a scheduled job starts and when it reaches Ended, Error, or Canceled, with the duration of each occurrence. New Batch job occurrence start and Batch job occurrence completed signals join the existing batch start, stop, throttling, failure, queue, and thread telemetry.

For anyone responsible for overnight batch reliability, this update for Dynamics 365 F&SCM is the signal that has been missing. Knowing that tasks ran is not the same as knowing the job finished, and reconstructing that from task-level data has been guesswork.

Two requirements before you plan around this service update in D365 F&O. The telemetry originates in PU74/10.0.50 and is backported to PU73/10.0.49, where it needs build 7.0.8199.5 or later. It also requires the BatchJobOccurrenceTelemetryFlight to be enabled, so contact Microsoft support if that flight is not active in your environment. Enablement is handled by a system admin rather than through Feature Management. (System Admin)

3. Dynamics 365 ERP MCP Server Enhancements

Organizations that adopted the Model Context Protocol capabilities introduced in 10.0.48 get a round of refinements in this cycle of Microsoft Dynamics 365 updates. These arrive through quality updates rather than the base release, and they are backported, so check your build number before assuming you have them.

On the data side of this Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management update, SQL SELECT now supports arithmetic between aggregates, so expressions like SUM(a) - SUM(b) work as written. Field name validation returns an explicit error for an invalid field rather than failing opaquely or returning an unexpected shape, which is a meaningful improvement for anyone debugging agent behavior. Actions return their full parameter set including inherited parameters, and query timeout support was added to the underlying SysDA framework.

On the form side of this service update for Dynamics 365 F&O, the MCP server now handles Group Option Button controls, a control family it previously could not read or set at all. Control resolution was hardened around find-by-name, grid group resolution, and a preference for non-lookup controls when setting values, which removes a category of ambiguous-target failures. Menu item label resolution and document upload and viewer control support were also added.

The third piece of this service update for Dynamics 365 F&SCM worth calling out for anyone thinking about agent governance. Every tool in the ERP MCP server is now marked with its behavioral contract, identifying whether it is read-only, destructive, idempotent, or open-world. A calling agent can use those annotations to decide when to stop and ask a human before acting. If you are building agent workflows that touch transactional data, this is the foundation for a human-in-the-loop control that actually works.

These enhancements are available in PU73/10.0.49 PQU-1 at version 7.0.8199.29 and up, with backports to 10.0.48 and 10.0.47. (By Default)

What Changed Without a Toggle: Default, Mandatory, and Retired Features in 10.0.49

This is a section many Dynamics 365 platform update plans skip, but in 10.0.49, you cannot afford to gloss over this component. Alongside the new features in the latest version of D365 F&SCM, Microsoft changed the enablement status of a substantial number of existing ones in Dynamics 365 platform updates. Some turned on by themselves, some can no longer be turned off, and some disappeared from Feature Management entirely because they are now permanent product behavior.

None of these show up as new capability in the release notes headline. All of them can change how your environment behaves.

Preview Features That Are Now Generally Available with Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management Version 10.0.49

Several previews from earlier releases reached general availability in the 10.0.49 D365 platform update. If you read our 10.0.48 guide, three of these will look familiar, because we flagged them for testing at the time. Here are 5 key preview features that are now generally available in D365 Finance version 10.0.49:

  • Keep supply for confirmed demand in Planning Optimization
  • Optimize confirmed dates for CTP line changes
  • Soft issue margins with Planning Optimization
  • Configure Product Lifecycle State business process policies without Engineering Change Management
  • Optional linking of test instruments to maintainable assets

Most of these are still turned off by default in the latest version of D365 F&O, so reaching general availability does not mean they are active in your environment. It means they are now supported for production useand you can plan a real rollout rather than an evaluation. Organizations that tested the Planning Optimization previews or the ECM-free lifecycle policies during the 10.0.48 cycle are in a good position to enable them now.

Two moved further than that with the D365 F&SCM service update. Enable lookup based search for the Sales External Item Identifier field went directly from preview to mandatory in 10.0.49. Dynamic work classification in Warehouse Management went directly from preview to on by default. Both are worth verifying in sandbox, since neither followed the usual gradual path.

So, now let’s get into features that became mandatory in version 10.0.49 of Dynamics 365 F&SCM.

Features That Became Mandatory in version 10.0.49

The application update for Dynamics 365 version 10.0.49 makes a large batch of previously optional features mandatory. They still appear in Feature Management with 10.0.49 D365 F&SCM, but the toggle is goneand you cannot turn them off. So, here is an overview of which features are becoming mandatory in the D365 Finance 10.0.49 release.

Cash and Bank Management carries by far the heaviest concentration with the latest Dynamics 365 service update, with more than twenty features becoming mandatory in this release. The list includes check number validation, cash position inquiry, the cash control feature, several advanced bank reconciliation behaviors covering default descriptions, batch mode posting, reversal handling, and cleared date updates, plus automatic clearing of bridged transactions and use of the latest exchange rate when posting bank transactions.

Accounts Receivable is the next largest group that became mandatory in the Dynamics 365 service updates, with customer and vendor netting, postdated check maturity date handling, cash flow sales tax authority payments, and a set of country-specific features for Italy, Norway, Poland, Brazil, and Eastern Europe.

Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Tax, and Electronic Reporting each pick up a smaller number in the latest D365 service updates. On the Supply Chain side, the mandatory list includes advanced quality management, dispense management, four Inventory Visibility integration features, two Asset Management work order features, and two vendor rebate features under Shared AP and AR.

The practical implication of this aspect of the D365 latest update is, admittedly, specific. If your organization deliberately left any of these turned off, whether because of a past conflict with a customization or simply because nobody enabled them, that decision is being reversed for you. Pull the mandatory list for your environment during sandbox testing and confirm that each one behaves acceptably against your configuration. This is the most likely source of an unexpected behavior change in the 10.0.49 D365 platform update, and it will not appear anywhere in a new-feature checklist.

Still, simply understanding which features are becoming mandatory in the Dynamics 365 Finance 10.0.49 release is not nearly enough. To ensure you are adequately prepare to manage this platform update, it’simportant to consider post-update management, as well.

So now, it’s important to take some time to learn which D365 features are turned on by default in version 10.0.49.

What Features Are Turned On By Default in the Dynamics 365 10.0.49 Release?

A further set of features became enabled by default in this 10.0.49 release. While you can still turn these off in Feature Management if you need to, it’s important to understand that these Dynamics 365 features are turned on by default in version 10.0.49 the moment you deploy. When it comes to features turned on by default in the D365 10.0.49 release, it makes the most sense to address Finance and Supply Chain Management separately.

Features turned on by default in the Dynamics 365 Finance 10.0.49 release include:

  • Payee name display for customer and vendor payment information
  • Process automation for foreign currency revaluation in AR, AP, and bank
  • Settle with priority in Accounts Payable
  • Optimized auto settlement
  • Bank account lifecycle management
  • Time zone alignment in modern bank reconciliation
  • Automatic vendor account matching
  • Several performance improvements.

Features turned on by default in the Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management 10.0.49 release include:

  • Acceptance sampling
  • Sample management
  • Quality associations by product dimensions
  • Test instrument calibration views
  • Two Asset Management work order enhancements.

Cash and Bank Management again shows up repeatedly, which makes it the single module most changed by this D365 update release even though almost none of it appears in the new-feature list.

Now, it’s time to get into D365 Finance features removed from Feature Management in version 10.0.49, a segment that is mostly important to be aware of and plan around to ensure your update goes smoothly.

Features Removed From Feature Management with the Dynamics 365 10.0.49 Update

The last category is features that left Feature Management altogether because the functionality is now a permanent part of the product. We’ll tackle this in two sprints, one that details removed or deprecated D365 Finance features, and then one that covers thos that left Supply Chain Management.

Features removed from Feature Management with the Dynamics 365 Finance 10.0.49 update include:

  • Budget register entries performance
  • Encumbrance reconciliation
  • Delayed tax calculation on journals
  • Six Electronic Reporting behaviors.

Removed or deprecated D365 Supply Chain Management features include:

  • Supply Chain retired thirteen
  • Spanning Asset Management
  • Inventory journals
  • Transfer order date cascading
  • Intercompany date synchronization
  • Several Dynamics 365 Sales integration behaviors.

There is nothing to do about these beyond awareness when it comes to Dynamics 365 Finance features removed from Feature Management in 10.0.49. They are not going to change how your system works, since the functionality was already enabled. But if you maintain upgrade documentation that references toggling them, that documentation is now out of date.

Now, it’s time to get into what many D365 10.0.49 release notes gloss over: guidance on how to run D365 F&O 10.0.49.

How to Check Your Version of Dynamics 365? (4 Steps)

It is normal to wonder what version you are running to determine where you fall on the Microsoft Dynamics 365 update schedule. This, after all, determines whether updating Dynamics 365 is something you need to address now or with the next cycle.

The exact steps depend on which Dynamics 365 app you are running, but every method takes under a minute and requires no admin access. There are four different routes you can take to understand how to check your version of D365 F&SCM:

  1. Help icon (Finance & Operations, Sales, Customer Service). Click the question mark in the upper-right corner and select About. A pop-up displays both your installed product version and database version.
  1. Settings gear (Customer Engagement and older CRM interfaces). Click the gear icon in the upper-right corner and select About from the dropdown to view the version banner.
  1. Business Central. Click the question mark, select Help & Support, then scroll to the Troubleshooting section to view your current version, platform, and build number.
  1. Power Platform Admin Center (administrators). Go to admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com, click Environments in the left menu, and select the environment you want to check. Version details appear without signing in to the app itself.

For F&SCM specifically, the About screen shows your version as 10.0.XX. That number determines whether you are current, one version behind, or at the mandatory update threshold under One Version. If you check and find you are on 10.0.47, then 10.0.49 is mandatory for your organization and your planning window is already open.

In other words, you can either prepare for your imminent service update to Dynamics 365, or you can wait to address it when it becomes a code red situation. Regardless of whether or not you can wait until the next Dynamics 365 update or need to run this one, preparing now should be a top priority.

What Causes Dynamics 365 10.0.49 Update Failures? (5 Common Reasons)

Most 10.0.49 D365 service update failures come down to preventable gaps in pre-deployment preparation. There are five gaps that account for the majority of Dynamics 365 10.0.49 version update failures. Here’swhat causes D365 10.0.49 update failures:

  1.  Development toolchain drift. With Visual Studio 2026 becoming the only supported IDE at PU74, teams still building on Visual Studio 2022 are working on borrowed time. Build failures that appear late in an upgrade cycle are expensive to unwind.
  1. ISV and custom code regressions. Extensions that have not been remediated against changes in Electronic Reporting, Planning Optimization, or the message processor queues tend to surface after deployment rather than before. This release touches all three.
  1. Lifecycle Services deployment timeouts. Large database movement tasks during package deployment are prone to timing out, stalling the update mid-flight. Environments with substantial InventTrans and other high-volume tables are the usual candidates.
  1. Preview features enabled without a rollback plan. Version 10.0.49 ships several previews with real consequences. Inventory transaction consolidation cannot be reversed once run against a period, and same-batch enforcement changes reservation behavior on the shop floor. Enabling either without deliberate testing invites a production problem with no easy exit.
  1. No expert D365 support team involved. Attempting a production update without an experienced Dynamics 365 partner means no safety net for triage, remediation, or rollback coordination when something goes wrong at the worst possible time. Always work with top 1% D365 update support specialists.

Now that you understand what causes update failures, our D365 F&SCM release notes cover how you can avoid making these failures.

How to Avoid Dynamics 365 10.0.49 Update Failures in 7 Simple Steps

A clean Dynamics 365 10.0.49 application update deployment does not happen by accident. Organizations that avoid failures follow a deliberate pre-deployment process. Here’s how to avoid D365 10.0.49 update failures in 7 simple steps:

  1.  Recompile and audit all customizations in sandbox first. Run your full code model compilation in a Tier-1 or Tier-2 sandbox and remediate anything that surfaces before touching production.
  1. Prove your build on Visual Studio 2026 now. Do not wait for PU74. Stand up the new toolchain, run a full build, and confirm your ISV solutions compile against it while you still have a release cycle of runway.
  1. Pull the mandatory and default feature lists before you touch the new-feature list. Dynamics 365 F&O 10.0.49 makes a large number of previously optional features mandatory, heavily weighted toward Cash and Bank Management and Accounts Receivable. Anything your team deliberately left off is being turned on for you. Verify each one against your configuration in sandbox.
  1. Use LCS Issue Search to identify known regressions. Review Knowledge Base articles in Lifecycle Services specific to 10.0.49 and apply relevant hotfixes before deployment.
  1. Treat preview features as a separate evaluation track. Keep Supplier Engagement, same-batch selection, inventory transaction consolidation, and the Subscription Billing preview out of your production enablement plan. Evaluate them in sandbox on their own timeline.
  1. Automate end-to-end regression testing with RSAT. Validate order-to-cash and procure-to-pay, and confirm core transaction posting behaves as expected after the upgrade. Pay particular attention to bank reconciliation, planning runs, and warehouse inbound flows given what this release changes.
  1. Know how to pause the update if you hit blockers. In LCS, go to Project settings, Update settings, Pause upcoming update. Have a support ticket number ready. Acting early keeps you in control. Waiting until auto-update arrives removes the option entirely.

Planning for Downtime for Dynamics 365 Updates?

Every Dynamics 365 update carries some degree of operational risk. While Microsoft minimizes platform downtime wherever possible, organizations remain responsible for preparing users, testing integrations, validating customizations, and proactively managing any potential Dynamics 365 update problems before they reach production.

Proper planning dramatically reduces the risk of outages, productivity losses, and costly D365 F&SCM application update failures. Here’s how to reduce downtime and risk during your Dynamics 365 update for version 10.0.49

  1. Test in a Tier-2 Sandbox Environment First: Never deploy directly to production., Validate custom code, ISVs, workflows, reports, integrations, and security roles.
  1. Schedule Updates During Low-Transaction Periods: Avoid month-end close, peak shipping windows, inventory counts, payroll processing, and major customer billing events.
  1. Review Mandatory and Default Features Before Deployment: Version 10.0.49 contains a large number of mandatory and automatically enabled features that can affect business processes without changing a single customization.
  1. Pause or Reschedule Auto-Updates if Necessary: Use Lifecycle Services to take advantage of available update windows and avoid unnecessary production exposure.
  1. Clear or Monitor Critical Batch Processes: Validate recurring batch jobs, integrations, automation routines, and third-party services before and after deployment.
  1. Run User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Require Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, IT, and Power Users to complete structured test scripts prior to go-live.
  1. Monitor Production Aggressively Following Deployment: Review Application Insights, Batch Job Occurrence Telemetry, integrations, and exception logs immediately after deployment.
  1. Work with Avantiico: A dedicated Dynamics 365 support team can provide release planning, regression testing, update remediation, deployment support, and rapid issue resolution if unexpected problems occur.

How Do You Run Dynamics 365 10.0.49 Update Tests?

Knowing how to test Dynamics 365 10.0.49 platform updates is one of the most important parts of a successful deployment. A structured D365 platform updates test process helps identify issues caused by mandatory features, ISV conflicts, customizations, reporting changes, integrations, security roles, and operational workflows before Microsoft updates production.

Here’s how to run a D365 10.0.49 update test plan in 8 simple steps:

  1. Deploy 10.0.49 to a Dedicated Sandbox Environment. Never perform first-pass testing in production.
  1. Review Mandatory, Default, and Retired Features First. Many organizations spend too much time testing new features and not enough testing behavior changes.
  1. Run RSAT Regression Testing. Validate Order-to-Cash, validate Procure-to-Pay, validate Inventory Management, validate Planning Optimization, and validate Financial Posting.
  1. Execute Department-Level User Testing. Finance teams should test reconciliations, budget control, AP, AR, and month-end activities. Supply Chain teams should test planning, warehouse, procurement, manufacturing, and quality workflows.
  1. Validate External Integrations, such as ISV solutions, Power Platform integrations, Dataverse, banking connections, EDI connections, and reporting platforms.
  1. Validate New Mandatory Feature Behavior. Pay special attention to Cash and Bank Management and Accounts Receivable.
  1. Review Platform and Developer Changes. Validate build pipelines, validate Visual Studio migration readiness, and confirm telemetry and monitoring functionality.
  1. Work with Avantiico. Avantiico helps organizations design update testing plans, execute regression testing, validate customizations, and identify risks before production deployment.

How to Prepare for Your Dynamics 365 F&SCM with the 10.0.49 Service Update

The best update projects start months before deployment. Most D365 FnO application update failures are not caused by software defects. They are caused by insufficient planning, poor testing, overlooked dependencies, or assumptions that previous release behavior will continue unchanged.

Here’s how to prepare for your D365 F&SCM 10.0.49 update in 10 steps:

  1. Determine Your Current Version. Organizations running 10.0.47 need to upgrade to 10.0.49.
  1. Review New, Mandatory, and Default Features. Build a testing checklist around every feature that changes behavior.
  1. Validate Customizations. Rebuild and review all X++ customization, and identify areas impacted by Finance, Planning, ERP MCP, and Cash Management updates.
  1. Review ISV Compatibility. Confirm every ISV solution supports version 10.0.49.
  1. Prepare for Visual Studio 2026. Stand up test build environments before PU74 arrives.
  1. Execute Automated Regression Testing. Use RSAT wherever possible.
  1. Complete User Acceptance Testing (UAT). Require sign-off from Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, and IT leadership.
  1. Evaluate Preview Features Separately (e.g., Supplier Engagement, Inventory Transaction Consolidation, Same-Batch Production Reservations, Subscription Billing Preview Features, etc.)
  1. Document Rollback and Contingency Plans. Define ownership before deployment day.
  1. Work with Avantiico. Engage a specialized Dynamics 365 support provider to reduce update risk, accelerate testing, and provide expert deployment guidance.

Best Practices for Running the 10.0.49 Version Update for D365 F&SCM

Version 10.0.49 introduces enough mandatory, default-enabled, and platform-level changes that organizations should treat it as a strategic upgrade rather than a routine quarterly patch. The most successful deployments focus on governance, testing, and operational readiness before production deployment. Here are 10 key best practices for running the Dynamics 365 10.0.49 version update:

  1. Start Testing Immediately After General Availability. Give your team as much runway as possible before auto-update deadlines.
  1. Test Mandatory Features Before New Features. Mandatory changes create more real-world disruption than new functionality.
  1. Maintain Separate Environments. (Development, Sandbox, UAT, Production.)
  1. Run Full Regression Testing. Validate all mission-critical business processes.
  1. Review Finance and Supply Chain Processes Separately. Different teams will often experience different impacts from the same release.
  1. Validate ISV and Integration Readiness Early. Dependency failures are among the most common causes of update delays.
  1. Prepare for Visual Studio 2026 Migration. Use the 10.0.49 cycle to eliminate future development disruptions.
  1. Review All Feature Management Changes (e.g., Mandatory, Default Enabled, Retired, Preview., Generally Available.)
  1. Schedule Production Updates During Controlled Windows. Avoid peak operations and business-critical cycles.
  1. Work with Avantiico for D365 One Version Update support. Reduce deployment risk through roadmap planning, technical assessments, regression testing, release management, and post-update support.

How to Update Dynamics 365 F&SCM with the 10.0.49 Service Update

The D365 10.0.49 version release is managed through Microsoft Dynamics Lifecycle Services. The organizations that get it right are the ones that update on their own schedule rather than Microsoft's. Here is how to update Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&SCM in 8 simple steps:

  1. Log in to Microsoft Dynamics Lifecycle Services and open your project.
  1. Go to the environment details page for the environment you want to update. Start with sandbox, never production.
  1. Check Available updates and click View update to save the 10.0.49 package to your Asset Library.
  1. Validate the package in the Asset Library and confirm the 10.0.49 software deployable package shows as Valid before proceeding.
  1. Apply the update by selecting Maintain, then Apply updates on the environment details page, choosing the 10.0.49 package, and clicking Apply.
  1. Refresh the Entity Store once the database synchronizes, under System Administration, Setup, Entity Store, Refresh. This updates aggregate measurements and keeps reporting accurate post-deployment.
  1. Confirm your auto-update window in Update settings. Decide deliberately between the October 2 and November 1 production windows rather than accepting whichever is configured by default.
  1. Work with Avantiico to assess customization impacts, identify update risks, validate business preocesses, and build a structured rollout plan before deploying 10.0.49 to production.

FAQs about the Dynamics 365 F&SCM 10.0.49 Update

What are the high-level highlights of Dynamics 365 version 10.0.49?

If you’re wondering, What’s new in Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management with version 10.0.49? Here are the most important 10.0.49 release notes for you, your team, and the board. Here’s what’s new in D365 Finance & Supply Chain Management with service update 10.0.49:

  • Introduces Supplier Engagement in preview, covering the supplier lifecycle from registration through RFQs, purchase orders, invoices, and consignment, with a global vendor record, a buyer app, and a supplier portal.
  • Requires Visual Studio 2026 for X++ development starting with PU74, which ships as version 10.0.50, making the 10.0.49 cycle the planning window for developer workstations, build agents, and ISV dependencies.
  • Strengthens budget control for public sector and budget-constrained organizations through automatic posting of general budget reservations, encumbrance reporting that excludes closing periods, and budget check indicators that survive finalization.
  • Corrects two Planning Optimization behaviors, honoring Closed for pickup on the transport calendar and filtering derived requirements by the coverage time fence.
  • Expands Electronic Reporting with native GS1 barcode generation, DIV and MOD formula functions, and Print management copy count support.
  • Adds batch job occurrence telemetry so administrators can see whether a scheduled job actually finished rather than only what its tasks did.
  • Makes a large batch of previously optional features mandatory, concentrated heavily in Cash and Bank Management and Accounts Receivable, which is the most likely source of unexpected behavior change in this release.
  • Ships several preview features with real operational consequences that require deliberate sandbox evaluation before any production consideration.

What are Dynamics 365 10.0.49 update feature enhancements I should know?

The most important D365 10.0.49 update feature enhancements center around supplier lifecycle management, planning accuracy, financial controls, Electronic Reporting, operational telemetry, and budget governance. While some releases focus on entirely new functionality, many of the most valuable changes in the Dynamics 365 10.0.49 application update address operational inefficiencies, reporting limitations, and process bottlenecks that organizations encounter every day.

Notable feature enhancements in the Dynamics 365 10.0.49 release include the introduction of Supplier Engagement (Preview) for procurement teams, improved Planning Optimization logic for more accurate supply and transfer recommendations, expanded Electronic Reporting capabilities with native GS1 barcode generation and new formula functions, stronger budget control automation, improved bank reconciliation processes, and new batch job occurrence telemetry for administrators.

The most significant Finance enhancements in this Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management version update include automated budget reservation posting, line-level customer prepayment calculations, improved encumbrance reporting, enhanced reporting currency management for Fixed Assets, and reconciliation improvements in Cash and Bank Management. For Supply Chain Management users, the most impactful changes include Supplier Engagement, Planning Optimization corrections, same-batch production controls, inbound ASN processing improvements, inventory transaction consolidation capabilities, and enhanced product lifecycle governance.

Beyond the new functionality, several feature enhancements in the D365 10.0.49 release come in the form of features becoming mandatory, enabled by default, or graduating from preview to general availability. For many organizations, these automatic behavioral changes may have a greater operational impact than the new features themselves, making sandbox testing and feature review an essential part of every D365 10.0.49 version release deployment plan.

When is the 10.0.49 release date?

The D365 F&O latest version, 10.0.49, became available in public preview on July 27, 2026, with a preview refresh on August 17, 2026. General availability for self-update is September 11, 2026. Production auto-update begins October 2, 2026 for the first window and November 1, 2026 for the second. End of service is May 21, 2027.

Organizations still on 10.0.47 should know that the Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&SCM 10.0.49 version release is mandatory for them under One Version, which allows a maximum of one version skip at a time.

Is 10.0.49 a major release?

Yes. Microsoft designates the D365 10.0.49 version update as a major release on its targeted release schedule, the same designation applied to 10.0.47 and 10.0.45. Major releases typically carry a wider feature surface, which is consistent with what shipped here.

What is the service update schedule for Dynamics 365 10.0.49?

As mentioned in the article, the release timeline for the Dynamics 365 10.0.49 platform update is as follows:

  • Public preview became available July 27, 2026, with the scheduled preview update on August 17, 2026.
  • General availability for self-update began September 11, 2026.
  • Auto-update to production runs October 2, 2026 for the first window and November 1, 2026 for the second, four weeks apart.
  • Sandbox environments auto-update seven days ahead of production in both windows.
  • Platform updates deploy earlier than Finance and SCM application features because they affect underlying infrastructure and must stabilize first.

Which modules received the most significant D365 updates in 10.0.49?

Procurement and Sourcing received the most significant addition in Supplier Engagement with the Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management version upgrade update, which is the largest new capability in the release even as a preview.

Budgeting received the deepest cluster of Finance improvements in the Microsoft Dynamics 365 latest version, with automatic posting of general budget reservations, the encumbrance reporting exclusion for closing periods, preserved budget check indicators, and accounting date advancement in budget-controlled workflows.

Electronic Reporting gained genuine new capability rather than maintenance in the Dynamics 365 10.0.49 version release, including GS1 barcode formats, DIV and MOD formula functions, and Print management copy count support.

Master Planning received two Planning Optimization corrections around transport calendars and coverage time fences with the latest D365 platform updates. Production Control gained same-batch enforcement in preview and shop floor registration controls.

Cash and Bank Management deserves a mention of its own with the latest D365 platform update. It has only a handful of genuinely new features, but it absorbs more mandatory and default enablement changes than any other module in this release, which makes it the area most likely to behave differently after you update.

At the platform layer, batch job occurrence telemetry, the ERP MCP server enhancements, and the Visual Studio 2026 requirement are the three items to know when it comes to 10.0.49 D365 F&O.

Are any features in Dynamics 365 10.0.49 available in preview only?

Yes, and the previews in this service update D365 release carry more operational weight than usual. Five to be aware of with 10.0.49 Dynamics 365 F&SCM include:

  1.  Supplier Engagement (Preview), with general availability targeted for March 2027.
  1. Enforce Same-Batch Selection for Raw Materials (Preview), which changes reservation behavior on production and batch orders.
  1. Optimized Inventory Transaction Consolidation (Preview), which is not reversible for a period once run.
  1. Multi-Element Revenue Allocation Termination Revenue Adjustment (Preview) in Subscription Billing.
  1. Fixed Assets Reporting Currency Adjustment (Preview), for generating, reviewing, and posting reporting currency adjustment entries.

Two of these service updates in Dynamics 365 deserve particular caution. Inventory transaction consolidation permanently prevents canceling inventory closing and processing returns against original transactions for the consolidated period. Same-batch selection reserves nothing at all when no single batch can fulfill a line, which changes how shortages appear to production teams. Neither should be enabled in production, and both need finance or operations stakeholders involved in the evaluation rather than being treated as technical toggles.

Do I need to manually enable new features in Dynamics 365 F&SCM 10.0.49?

Most new features in the Dynamics 365 F&SCM latest version, 10.0.49, require manual activation through the Feature Management workspace. A smaller number are enabled by default on deployment, including the GS1 barcode formats and DIV and MOD functions in Electronic Reporting, Print management copy count support, despatch advice message import, prevention of multiple owners in warehouse locations, source system inventory status mapping, and RFQ bid-driven fixed asset field updates.

Features that are on by default with the Dynamics 365 latest updates deserve the most immediate attention during sandbox testing, since they are active the moment you deploy. The warehouse items in particular change existing behavior rather than adding an unused capability, so identify them early.

The line-level prepayment capability is worth calling out separately when it comes to planning for the latest service update to Dynamics 365. It is controlled by a parameter on the Accounts receivable parameters page rather than a Feature Management toggle, and the parameter only appears once the Prepayment customer invoice feature is enabled. Several of the Cash and Bank Management improvements are marked as Admin rather than Feature Management, which means enablement runs through administrative setup rather than the standard workspace.

Manual enablement is also only half the picture in this D365 application update release. A separate group of existing features became mandatory or turned on by default in 10.0.49, which you do not enable and, in the mandatory cases, cannot disable. Those deserve review before the ones you control.

Which features became mandatory in Dynamics 365 10.0.49?

Quite a few features became mandatory in the latest service update for Dynamics 365, 10.0.49, and this is the part of the release that catches teams off guard. In the Dynamics 365 latest updates in 2026, features that become mandatory still appear in Feature Management, but the toggle is removed and you can no longer turn them off.

Cash and Bank Management carries the heaviest concentration by a wide margin in the latest application update to D365, with more than twenty features becoming mandatory. That includes check number validation, cash position inquiry, the cash control feature, automatic clearing of bridged transactions, and a group of advanced bank reconciliation behaviors covering default descriptions, batch mode posting, reversal handling, and cleared date updates.

Accounts Receivable follows with customer and vendor netting, postdated check maturity date handling, cash flow sales tax authority payments, and country-specific features for Italy, Norway, Poland, Brazil, and Eastern Europe. Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Tax, and Electronic Reporting each add a few more with D365 F&O 10.0.49.

On the Supply Chain side of Dynamics 365 F&O 10.0.49, the list includes advanced quality management, dispense management, four Inventory Visibility integration features, two Asset Management work order features, and two vendor rebate features.

If your organization intentionally left any of these off, that decision is reversed in 10.0.49 Dynamics 365 F&O. Review the mandatory list against your environment during sandbox testing rather than finding out in production when running service updates in D365.

Which features are turned on by default in 10.0.49?

In the Dynamics 365 F&O latest version, Finance turns on payee name display for customer and vendor payment information, process automation for AR, AP, and bank foreign currency revaluation, settle with priority in Accounts Payable, optimized auto settlement, bank account lifecycle management, time zone alignment in modern bank reconciliation, automatic vendor account matching, batch mode for Bank CODA transfer to ledger, and several performance improvements.

In the D365 F&SCM latest version, Supply Chain turns on acceptance sampling, sample management, quality associations configured by product dimensions, test instrument calibration views, two Asset Management work order enhancements, and Dynamic work classification in Warehouse Management, which moved directly from production ready preview to on by default.

Among the new and latest 10.0.49 Microsoft D365 features themselves, the ones on by default are the GS1 barcode formats and DIV and MOD functions in Electronic Reporting, Print management copy count support, despatch advice message import, prevention of multiple owners in warehouse locations, source system inventory status mapping, and RFQ bid-driven fixed asset field updates.

You can still turn these off in Feature Management, but they are active on deployment, so identify them during sandbox testing when running Dynamics 365 version updates.

Which preview features became generally available in 10.0.49?

In the Microsoft Dynamics 365 latest version in 2026, 10.0.49, five previews from earlier releases reached general availability: Keep supply for confirmed demand in Planning Optimization, Optimize confirmed dates for CTP line changes, Soft issue margins with Planning Optimization, Product Lifecycle State business process policies without Engineering Change Management, and optional linking of test instruments to maintainable assets.

The first four came out of the 10.0.48 cycle. If your team evaluated them at the time, 10.0.49 is when you can plan a supported production rollout. Most remain turned off by default, so general availability changes the support status rather than the enablement state.

Two features skipped the usual path. Lookup based search for the Sales External Item Identifier field went straight from preview to mandatory, and Dynamic work classification in Warehouse Management went straight from preview to on by default.

What's the best way to manage new D365 features with 10.0.49?

Use the Feature Management workspace as your primary governance tool. Most features are disabled by default, so they do not affect your environment until you deliberately enable them.

Evaluate each feature in sandbox first, assess the impact on existing customizations and integrations, enable it in a test environment, validate against your critical business flows, and only then enable in production on a planned schedule.

For 10.0.49 specifically, split your list into four tracks. Features becoming mandatory need review first, because the decision has already been made and you are only confirming the impact. Features on by default need testing before deployment for the same reason. Standard Feature Management items follow your normal evaluation process. Preview features sit in a separate track entirely with no production timeline attached, particularly the ones in this release that cannot be undone.

The order matters. Most teams work the new-feature list first and never get to the mandatory list, which is backwards. The features you cannot control are the ones worth looking at first.

What's the difference between platform updates and Finance updates in 10.0.49?

  • Platform updates affect the underlying infrastructure, the execution environment, developer tooling, and cross-application services. They deploy earlier in the release cycle and take effect immediately on deployment regardless of Feature Management settings. In 10.0.49 these are batch job occurrence telemetry, the ERP MCP server enhancements, and the Visual Studio 2026 requirement for X++ development.
  • Finance and Supply Chain updates are application updates, including new features, workflow changes, and compliance enhancements. They affect specific modules and are typically controlled through Feature Management.

The practical implication is that platform changes require less configuration but more attention from administrators and developers, while Finance and SCM features require deliberate activation and give you more control over timing. The Visual Studio 2026 requirement is the clearest example of that asymmetry in this release, since no amount of Feature Management governance affects it.

How does the 10.0.49 release improve operations?

Across three broad dimensions.

  • Planning and fulfillment accuracy improves through the transport calendar fix and coverage time fence filtering in Planning Optimization, plus despatch advice message import for inbound warehouse operations.
  • Financial control and visibility improve through preserved budget check indicators, automatic general budget reservation posting, encumbrance reporting that excludes closing periods, and consistent reporting currency handling on fixed asset splits.
  • Operational transparency improves through batch job occurrence telemetry, review before posting on bank reconciliation matching, and change tracking that keeps Azure Product Search aligned with global pricing.

What should public sector organizations know about 10.0.49?

More than usual. Three of the budgeting improvements in this release target scenarios that are far more common in public sector and grant-funded environments than in commercial ones.

Excluding closing period transactions from the Outstanding encumbrance report addresses a year-end review problem specific to organizations running encumbrance accounting. Preserving budget check indicators after finalization matters most where every commitment against budget needs a durable audit trail. Automatic posting of general budget reservations removes a manual step for organizations processing reservations at volume. Taken together, they are the strongest reason for a public sector organization to prioritize testing this release rather than treating it as routine.

What does the Visual Studio 2026 requirement mean for my organization?

If you have no custom X++ and no ISV solutions with X++ components, it means very little. Your runtime is unaffected.

If you maintain custom X++, the answer is different. Starting with PU74, which ships as version 10.0.50, Visual Studio 2022 is no longer supported and Visual Studio 2026 is required. You need to migrate developer workstations, development VMs, and build agents. You also need confirmation from any ISV whose solution includes X++ that their builds are certified on the new toolchain.

The important point is that pausing a service update does not defer this. Microsoft published it in the 10.0.49 notes specifically to give teams a full cycle of runway, and that runway is what you are spending now.

What is the latest version of Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management?

As of September 2026, the latest generally available version of Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management is 10.0.49, released for self-update on September 11, 2026, with production auto-update beginning October 2, 2026.

Dynamics 365 follows Microsoft's One Version policy, meaning all cloud customers run the same version and updates arrive on a continuous quarterly cadence in February, April, July, and October. The version number reflects the most recent service update applied to your environment.

What is the latest version of Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations?

As of September 2026, the latest version of Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations (D365 F&O) is version 10.0.49. Microsoft now refers to the application as Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management (F&SCM), but the version numbering remains the same across both naming conventions.

In other words, if you're searching for the latest version of Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, latest version of D365 F&O, or latest version of Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management, the answer is the same: Dynamics 365 version 10.0.49.

Version 10.0.49 became generally available for self-update on September 11, 2026, with production auto-update windows beginning October 2, 2026 and November 1, 2026. Under Microsoft's One Version policy, all cloud customers remain on a continuous update cadence, with new service updates delivered quarterly.

What comes after 10.0.49?

Version 10.0.50 is next, listed as CY27Q1 on Microsoft's schedule. Preview availability is October 23, 2026, general availability for self-update is December 22, 2026, and production auto-update runs January 31, 2027for the first window and February 28, 2027 for the second.

That timeline is directly relevant to the Visual Studio 2026 migration. The window between 10.0.49 general availability and the next release is the practical planning period for teams that maintain custom X++.

How do I update my D365 F&SCM to the latest version?

Updates are managed through Lifecycle Services. Here’s how you can update Dynamics 365 F&SCM in four steps:

  1. Log in to LCS, go to your project's environment details page, check Available Updates, and save the 10.0.49 package to your Asset Library.
  1. Confirm the package shows as Valid, then apply it to sandbox first through Maintain, Apply Updates.
  1. After the database synchronizes, refresh the Entity Store under System Administration, Setup, Entity Store, Refresh.
  1. Only after successful sandbox validation should you apply the update to production.

Tier-2 or higher sandbox environments are required for UAT and production-equivalent testing. Tier-1 environments are suitable for development and code compilation only. Complete full regression testing with RSAT before applying any update to production.

What are the best Dynamics 365 Finance 10.0.49 features for retail CFOs?

For retail finance leaders, the most impactful D365 Finance 10.0.49 features for retail cfos are the enhancements that improve cash visibility, financial control, reconciliation accuracy, and reporting efficiency. While Dynamics 365 Finance is now part of Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management, the Finance functionality remains the same as the latest version of Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, so these benefits apply to both naming conventions.

The most valuable CFO-focused enhancements include:

  • Automatic posting of general budget reservations after workflow approval
  • Improved encumbrance reporting that excludes closing-period transactions
  • Preservation of budget check indicators after document finalization
  • Line-level customer prepayment calculations for more precise revenue management
  • Preview review and approval workflows for bank reconciliation matching
  • Automatic settlement processing improvements for customer and vendor payments
  • Reporting currency accuracy improvements for Fixed Assets
  • Native GS1 barcode generation and Electronic Reporting enhancements

For retail organizations managing complex purchasing, inventory, and cash flow operations across multiple stores or legal entities, these improvements help strengthen financial governance while reducing month-end and year-end administrative work.

Were there Dynamics 365 10.0.49 bug fixes?

Yes. While Microsoft positions version 10.0.49 primarily as a feature and platform release, several improvements effectively function as D365 10.0.49 bug fixes by correcting long-standing behavior issues and eliminatingoperational inefficiencies.

Examples include:

  • Planning Optimization now correctly respects transport calendar pickup restrictions.
  • Derived requirements can now correctly honor coverage time fences.
  • Fixed asset splits preserve reporting currency consistency.
  • Electronic Reporting destinations now properly honor configured print-copy counts.
  • Batch job occurrence telemetry provides visibility into completed, failed, or canceled jobs.
  • Warehouse ASN processing now handles document corrections more reliably.
  • Bridge-transaction filtering significantly improves performance during bank reconciliation.

Many of these fixes are not labeled as traditional hotfixes, but they address process limitations and operational issues that many organizations have encountered in prior releases.

When is Dynamics 365 version 10.0.49 released?

Dynamics 365 version 10.0.49 follows the published Microsoft release schedule:

  • Public Preview: July 27, 2026
  • Preview Refresh: August 17, 2026
  • General Availability (Self-Update): September 11, 2026
  • Production Auto-Update Window 1: October 2, 2026
  • Production Auto-Update Window 2: November 1, 2026

Organizations looking for the Dynamics 365 F&SCM update schedule, D365 F&O update schedule, or the general D365 10.0.49 update schedule should plan around the September self-update window and the October/November production deployment windows. Microsoft classifies 10.0.49 as a major release and enforces deployment through the One Version lifecycle.

What’s new in Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations?

If you're searching for what's new in D365 Finance and Operations, it's important to know that Finance & Operations (F&O) is now Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management (F&SCM), so the release notes are identical. Major additions include:

  • Supplier Engagement (Preview)
  • Line-level customer prepayments
  • Budget reservation automation
  • Enhanced Planning Optimization logic
  • Native GS1 barcode generation
  • Batch job occurrence telemetry
  • ERP MCP platform enhancements
  • Reporting currency improvements in Fixed Assets
  • Expanded Electronic Reporting functionality
  • New regulatory reporting capabilities

Organizations monitoring service update availability for D365 F&O should note that version 10.0.49 became available for self-update on September 11, 2026.

Are there Dynamics 365 updates in September 2026?

Yes. The most significant of the D365 updates in September 2026 is Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management version 10.0.49.

According to the official Dynamics 365 in September 2026 update release notes, September 11, 2026 marks the General Availability date for self-update deployment. The release includes:

  • Supplier Engagement preview
  • Planning Optimization enhancements
  • Budget control improvements
  • Cash and Bank Management updates
  • Electronic Reporting enhancements
  • Significant Feature Management changes
  • Platform telemetry enhancements

Organizations can self-deploy beginning September 11 before Microsoft begins production auto-updates in October.

Were there Dynamics 365 updates in April 2026?

Yes. April 2026 was part of Microsoft's regular One Version release cadence and included updates such as version 10.0.47.

When looking at Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain management updates 2026, April marked one of the four scheduled annual update windows delivered under Microsoft's quarterly release model. These releases help organizations stay current with Finance, Supply Chain, platform, security, and compliance enhancements throughout the year.

Were there Dynamics 365 updates in January 2026?

Yes. Microsoft continued its quarterly One Version cadence throughout January 2026.

Although version 10.0.49 itself was released later in the year, organizations reviewing the broader Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management update schedule for 10.0.49 should understand that Microsoft generally delivers updates on a quarterly cadence, with updates typically occurring in February, April, July, and October production windows.

January 2026 also marked the beginning of Microsoft's staged Dynamics 365 license enforcement rollout, which continued into the 10.0.49 release cycle.

What are Dynamics 365 on-premise updates?

A Dynamics 365 on-premise update is a cumulative package released by Microsoft for organizations running Dynamics 365 in a local business data (LBD) or on-premise deployment model, rather than the Microsoft-managed cloud service. These updates typically include:

  • Security updates
  • Platform enhancements
  • Regulatory updates
  • Bug fixes
  • Performance improvements

Unlike cloud customers who follow One Version, on-premise customers control when updates are tested, scheduled, and deployed. However, they are also responsible for managing that lifecycle themselves.

How to apply a service update to Dynamics 365 F&SCM or F&O?

If you're asking how to apply service update Dynamics 365, Microsoft recommends:

  1. Open Lifecycle Services (LCS).
  1. Navigate to the environment details page.
  1. Review Available Updates.
  1. Save the package to Asset Library.
  1. Validate the package status.
  1. Apply to a sandbox environment first.
  1. Complete regression testing.
  1. Refresh Entity Store after deployment.
  1. Promote to production after validation.

Since F&O and F&SCM are the same platform, the update process is identical regardless of which product name your organization uses.

How do you apply updates in Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management?

Applying a Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management update involves downloading, validating, testing, and deploying a service update through Microsoft Dynamics Lifecycle Services (LCS). Organizations should always deploy updates to a sandbox environment before touching production. Here's how to apply a Dynamics 365:

  1. Sign in to Microsoft Dynamics Lifecycle Services (LCS).
  2. Open the environment you want to update.
  3. Review available service updates.
  4. Save the update package to your Asset Library.
  5. Validate the package before deployment.
  6. Apply the update to a sandbox environment first.
  7. Complete user acceptance testing (UAT) and regression testing.
  8. Validate customizations, ISV solutions, integrations, security roles, and reporting.
  9. Refresh the Entity Store after deployment.
  10. Schedule production deployment before Microsoft's auto-update window.

Organizations running custom X++ code, third-party ISV solutions, Planning Optimization, advanced warehouse processes, or heavily customized Finance environments should complete additional testing before updating production.

Can I delay a Dynamics 365 update?

Yes. Under Microsoft's One Version policy, organizations can pause one update cycle at a time through Lifecycle Services. However, updates cannot be deferred indefinitely. Once the pause window ends, Microsoft will automatically apply a supported version according to your configured update schedule.

How long does a Dynamics 365 update take?

Deployment time varies based on environment size, database volume, customizations, integrations, and infrastructure complexity. In most cases, testing, validation, and remediation require significantly more effort than the actual package deployment itself.

What are the most important Dynamics 365 Field Service updates in 2026?

Microsoft’s Dynamics 365 Field Service 2026 Release Wave 1 plan covers capabilities planned for delivery from April through September 2026. The documented investment areas include technician productivity, resource scheduling, work-order management, Copilot capabilities, asset management, maintenance planning, and coordination between Field Service, Finance and Supply Chain Management, and Project Operations.

The most important areas include:

  1. Field Service Mobile improvements. Microsoft is investing in usability and offline support to help technicians complete work more efficiently and maintain consistent execution in the field.
  2. Resource-scheduling enhancements. Microsoft is continuing development of the Scheduling Operations Agent and dispatcher experiences across the schedule board.
  3. End-to-end work-order execution. The release plan describes continued work across Field Service, Finance and Supply Chain Management, and Project Operations to improve connected work-order processes.
  4. Asset and maintenance management. Microsoft identifies asset management, maintenance planning, and asset-location capabilities as investment areas intended to strengthen asset context and proactive coordination.
  5. Performance, reliability, and quality improvements. Microsoft continues to invest in the responsiveness and reliability of Field Service experiences as service operations scale.

Microsoft also publishes Field Service hotfixes and version-specific improvements separately from the release-wave plan. For example, the Field Service version history documents fixes involving mobile-note availability and localization, work orders containing multiple incidents, and additional security improvements in specific builds.

Does Dynamics 365 Field Service use the same update schedule as F&SCM?

No. Dynamics 365 Field Service does not use the same 10.0.49 One Version schedule as Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management. Field Service has its own application version history and regional deployment schedule, while broader Field Service capabilities are also organized through Microsoft’s twice-annual Dynamics 365 release waves. Microsoft’s general Dynamics 365 release-wave model includes:

  • Release Wave 1, covering capabilities released from April through September.
  • Release Wave 2, covering capabilities released from October through March.
  • Early-access opportunities that allow organizations to validate applicable features in a sandbox before production rollout.

Field Service application updates roll out to geographic regions on different dates. Microsoft’s Field Service version-history page lists the current version, next version, scheduled date, and deployment station for each region. The same page also documents individual hotfixes, security improvements, and resolved product issues.

Therefore, organizations using both F&SCM and Field Service should maintain separate update calendars:

  1. Track F&SCM service updates through the One Version schedule and Lifecycle Services.
  2. Track Field Service application versions through the Field Service version-history schedule.
  3. Review release-wave capabilities separately from routine Field Service hotfixes.
  4. Test integrations between Field Service and F&SCM whenever either application changes.
  5. Validate work-order, asset, inventory, scheduling, mobile, and financial integration processes before production rollout.

How should you prepare for Dynamics 365 Field Service updates?

Because Dynamics 365 Field Service 10.0.49 follows its own regional version schedule, preparation should begin by identifying the current and next application versions assigned to your environment’s region. Microsoft publishes those versions and scheduled dates on the Field Service version-history page.

Use the following update-readiness process:

  1. Confirm your Field Service region and version. Compare the current version, next version, and scheduled date shown for your deployment station.
  2. Review version-specific fixes. Check whether the upcoming build affects Field Service Mobile, work orders, Universal Resource Scheduling, resource-scheduling controls, or security.
  3. Review the active release-wave plan. Separate broader feature investments from routine hotfixes and application-version updates.
  4. Test Field Service Mobile. Validate online and offline technician workflows, notes, forms, inspections, synchronization, and any customized mobile experiences.
  5. Test scheduling and dispatch. Validate the schedule board, resource requirements, booking rules, travel calculations, and dispatcher workflows.
  6. Validate work-order integrations. Test work-order creation, incidents, products, services, inventory consumption, asset history, billing, and any integrations with Finance, Supply Chain Management, or Project Operations.
  7. Test customizations and Power Platform components. Validate plugins, Power Automate flows, custom tables, security roles, model-driven app changes, and integrations that depend on Field Service data.
  8. Document production ownership. Assign owners for technician support, dispatch, integration monitoring, and post-update issue escalation.

Organizations running both Field Service and F&SCM should not assume that successful testing in one application validates the other. The applications use different update schedules, and the integration points between them require their own regression testing.

Do Dynamics 365 Copilot features update automatically?

Yes. Most Dynamics 365 Copilot capabilities are delivered as Microsoft-managed cloud services and can evolve independently of major application updates such as Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management 10.0.49.

Organizations should understand that new Copilot experiences, AI models, prompts, agent capabilities, and functionality may become available separately from traditional application-update schedules. While some Copilot capabilities depend on application functionality delivered through service updates, many AI enhancements are released continuously through Microsoft's cloud platform.

Before enabling new Copilot capabilities, organizations should:

  • Review licensing requirements.
  • Validate security and data-access permissions.
  • Confirm user-readiness and adoption plans.
  • Test integrations, automation, and AI-assisted workflows.
  • Evaluate governance and responsible AI requirements.

For organizations using Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management, service updates such as version 10.0.49 should be treated separately from Copilot feature governance. A successful ERP update does not automatically validate new AI functionality, and new AI functionality does not eliminate the need for ERP testing.

Will Dynamics 365 10.0.49 change Copilot functionality?

Version 10.0.49 does not introduce a major Copilot platform overhaul. However, organizations using Microsoft Copilot, AI-powered automation, ERP MCP capabilities, Power Platform integrations, or agent-based workflows should include those capabilities in their regression-testing strategy.

Any workflow that relies on:

  • Copilot-generated content
  • Agent automations
  • ERP MCP integrations
  • Power Platform automation
  • AI-assisted business processes

should be validated after deployment to ensure expected behavior remains unchanged.

Should Copilot features be included in D365 update testing?

Yes.

Many organizations focus exclusively on Finance, Supply Chain, reporting, and integrations during update testing while overlooking AI-powered processes. If your organization uses Copilot-assisted workflows, those scenarios should be included in User Acceptance Testing (UAT), regression testing, and post-deployment validation.

Recommended testing areas include:

  • Copilot-generated responses
  • AI-assisted financial workflows
  • AI-generated summaries
  • Agent actions
  • Power Automate integrations
  • ERP MCP integrations
  • Security trimming and permissions
  • Data-access controls

This helps ensure that users maintain trust in AI-generated outputs after application updates are deployed.

How do you manage a D365 cloud-hosted environment update?

A D365 cloud-hosted environment update is managed differently from an automatic update to a Microsoft-managed production environment. Cloud-hosted subscriptions use the customer’s or partner’s Azure subscription and are intended for evaluation and development purposes. Microsoft recommends using Tier-1 environments for development and testing customizations, while production-equivalent testing should occur in a Tier-2 sandbox.

To complete a Dynamics 365 cloud-hosted environment update through Microsoft Dynamics Lifecycle Services:

  1. Sign in to Lifecycle Services and open the project containing the cloud-hosted environment.
  2. Select the environment you need to update.
  3. Review the platform or combined application and platform updates available for that environment.
  4. Save the applicable update package to the project Asset Library.
  5. Confirm that the package includes the required customizations and ISV solutions for the target environment.
  6. From the environment page, select Maintain, then Apply updates.
  7. Select the validated package and begin the servicing operation.
  8. Monitor the update until all services return to a stable state.
  9. Validate the environment’s custom code, integrations, reports, and development tools after deployment.
  10. Repeat production-equivalent testing in a Tier-2 or higher sandbox before approving the update for production.

Applying a deployable package causes downtime because relevant environment services stop while the package is installed. Microsoft also notes that development environments are considered disposable, should not contain business-critical data, and are not intended for performance testing.

The available installation method can depend on the environment type. LCS supports updates for customer-managed and Microsoft-managed environments deployed through Lifecycle Services, but some local development and multibox development or test environments require command-line package installation instead.
